John Herbert Adler (August 23, 1959 â April 4, 2011) was the Democrat U.S. Representative from New Jersey's third congressional district, having been elected in 2008 in a close and bitter campaign. He currently serves on the Committees on Financial Services and Veterans' Affairs. Adler has voted with a majority of his Democratic colleagues 92.1% of the time during the current Congress.[1] He supported major Democratic legislation, including the economic stimulus package [2] and cap and trade.[3] However, he voted against health care reform.[4]

Previously Adler served in the New Jersey State Senate from 1992 through 2009.
He lost re-election in 2010 to Jon Runyan. Three months after leaving office, he died of endocarditis.[5]
