Lake Inari (Finnish: Inarijärvi) is one of the largest lakes of Finland in the far north of the country, north of the Arctic Circle. The lake is fed by the Ivalo River from the southwest and drained by the Paatsjoki River on the east to the Arctic Ocean. There are thousands (3318 in total) of islands in the lake. With a maximal depth of 96 metres it's one of the deepest lakes of Finland. Because of the depth and the northern location of the lake it's also one of the coldest of the country. The town Inari is located on the southwestern shore of the lake.[1]
