PDMP

Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMP) is a mandatory database system in most, but not all, states for tracking prescriptions on medications.

Criticism of PDMPs include:

• warrantless searches of these databases by government officials without a proper purpose (fewer than halt the states require a warrant)
• only a small percentage of prescription drug abuse is due to doctor-shopping
• most drug overdose deaths are due to illegal fentanyl brought over the southern open border
