Ramon Magsaysay

Ramon del Fierro Magsaysay (1907-1957) was a military General of and later, President of, the Philippines from 1953-1957. Magsaysay had fought the Japanese during World War 2 after their invasion of the country, and as a military leader helped fight back the Communist Huk Rebellion. Magsaysay was a very popular Nationalist leader of the country, while also being a close friend and ally of the United States. While fighting the Communists, Magsaysay's American advisor was Edward Lansdale.
