Skyfall
Skyfall (2012) is the twenty-third film of the James Bond film series, the third to star Daniel Craig as fictional British MI6 agent James Bond. The film was released on October 26, 2012 in the United Kingdom, followed by a November 9, 2012 release in the United States. The characters of Q and Miss Moneypenny return in the film for the first time since 2002's Die Another Day. This is also the last film in the series to feature Judi Dench in the role of M, who is killed off at the conclusion of the film's finale. Ralph Fiennes' character, Gareth Mallory, is promoted to the position at the end of the film, following the death of Dench's character.

The film became the highest-grossing installment in the series following its release, with a total gross of over $1 billion worldwide. Skyfall would later go on to receive the Academy Awards for Best Sound Editing (tied with Zero Dark Thirty) and Best Original Song at the Oscars ceremony in early 2013, becoming the first film in the franchise since Thunderball to win an Academy Award, as well as the first film since For Your Eyes Only to be nominated for an Oscar. The film's title theme song, "Skyfall", was written and performed by British singer Adele and, upon its release on October 5, 2012 (the day of the 50th anniversary of the release of the first 007 film Dr. No on October 5, 1962), became a huge hit on the music charts, reaching the number one spot on the charts in eleven countries and going top-five in many other countries, topping the iTunes chart and reaching number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, and it won an Academy Award for Best Original Song and many other accolades.
