There are currently no advanced communist societies that exist in the world, given that for one of these to exist the society must be classless and stateless. However, repressive socialist regimes exist currently reside in the following nations: the People's Republic of China, Laos, Vietnam, Cuba and North Korea. In the last three decades the former nations, with exception to North Korea, have steadily been liberalizing their economies whilst at the same time have become less repressive.
