== Charlottesville: liberal hypocrisy and identity politics in action ==
I find it interesting how strongly the left-wing opposes white supremacism. Their opposition to it is right, but they reveal their double standard when they do so.
For decades, the Left has supported [[identity politics]], where certain ethnic and cultural groups in America view themselves as part of those groups over the fact that they are Americans. Blacks value their blackness over being American, Muslims preferring their Islamic culture and law over American culture, immigrants refusing to assimilate and view themselves as Americans first, etc. Liberals are OK with this and even encourage it. But when white people do it, the Left can't stand it -- even though white supremacism is just another form of identity politics, only one that is more common on the far-right than the Left.
Also, left-wing extremists, such as the [[Antifa]], BLM activists, the protesters vandalizing Confederate monuments, and the many college protestors are much more common than violent white supremacism (see [[2017 leftwing violence]]). However, there is more leftist outrage over this one incident than the others. There are many violent people on the Left, as we have seen just in the past year, who are just as racist, bigoted, and hateful as white supremacists, if not even more (and what's dangerous is that those leftists are convinced they are "morally superior" than others).
All people are evil and sinful ([https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans+3%3A23-24&version=ESV See Romans 3:23-24]), so we should expect to see evil in all directions, from people of all ideologies -- not just Nazis and white supremacists. It is inherently hypocritical for people to only blame only one group for evil -- we are all evil. Americans should leave identity politics, whether white, black, Hispanic, or anything, and view themselves as Americans first regardless of ethnicity or cultural background.
