:A simple unreported fact of history is, of the 16 million servicemen of "The Greatest Generation" who defeated fascism, by 1938 and the [[Berlin Airlift]] felt they had been lied to. They felt that they had risked their lives for lies - there were no free and fair democratic elections, there was no self-determination of peoples, and once again the world was not safe for democracy. (Much of the horrors of the holocaust remained unreported in 1948). Men like Henry Wallace and Claude Pepper came down on the side of [[Mao Zedong]] and Joseph Stalin, most importantly to note is their views directly opposed the policy and views of both Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman. When the Russians exploded the nuke, the [[Rosenberg]]s were exposed, and the Korean War broke out, many soldiers of the Greatest Generation felt they had been lied to and risked their lives for nothing.
