Former Vice President of the United States [[Dick Cheney]], who earlier held Wyoming's single seat in the U.S. House, said of Wallop: "Malcolm was sort of the spark plug, he was the senior guy, and Al [Simpson] and I were delighted to work with him. My record and Malcolm's record were pretty similar in terms of how we voted on the issues."<ref name=vacaville/>
