Mensah was forced to shoot 17-year old Alvin Cole after he fired a shot with a stolen gun and refused to drop the weapon.  County District Attorney John Chisholm concluded that the shooting of the armed suspect was lawful and reasonable.<ref>https://youtu.be/pznd9LAZPc8</ref> “He did not surrender the weapon and was fired upon by Officer Mensah causing his death,” Chisholm wrote. “There is sufficient evidence that Officer Mensah had an actual subjective belief that deadly force was necessary and that belief was objectively reasonable.” Members of the Wisconsin National Guard had been mobilized to Wauwatosa in advance of the prosecutor’s charging decision.
