Talk:Conservative of the Year 2021 (view source)
Revision as of 03:13, December 31, 2021
, 03:13, December 31, 2021→My vote is for Senator Manchin for Conservative of the Year and Governor-Elect Youngkin for runner-up
:::::I still think Senator Manchin should be Conservative of the Year. He has done more for Conservativism than many Republicans in the Congress.--TheNewRight (talk) 13:21, December 30, 2021 (EST)

::::::Manchin is up for reelection in 2024, when Trump will carry his state by 40+ points. I think Manchin's stance reflects where his constituents are. That's fine, but I don't see it as award-winning.--Andy Schlafly (talk) 16:05, December 30, 2021 (EST)

:::::::Politics is a funny business. If Manchin were to run as a Republican in 2024, there is no guarantee he could win against a strong Democrat who would call him a traitor. An honor like this would be turned into a smear against him. Everybody is happy just the way things are. Downgrading Manchin because he's just doing what 50 Republican senators are already doing, and which the overwhelming number of West Virginia constituents of Manchin want. It's also what Manchin campaigned on to get elected in 2010.--Andy Schlafly (talk) 20:13, December 30, 2021 (EST)
