Cawthorn narrowly lost reelection in the redistricted [[GOP]] primary in May 2022, by margin of only 33.4% to 31.9% (a margin of only about 1300 votes, less than the number of doubtful mail-in ballots), after the [[Establishment]] went all-out to back a state senator opponent to Cawthorn.<ref>https://news.ballotpedia.org/2022/05/18/madison-cawthorn-loses-re-election-bid-in-nc-11-to-state-sen-chuck-edwards/</ref>  An unusual multi-million-dollar campaign of smears and [[RINO]] accusations were made to defeat Cawthorn, some of it as retaliation against his spot-on criticism of the corrupt regime in [[Ukraine]] for which [[RINO]]s have looted Americans in excess of $50 billion.
