The Tamil language is perhaps one of the most ancient in the world, sharing certain linguistic and structural similarities with [[[Sanskrit]]], although these are not profound. The unique verbal conjugations in Tamil are said to be relatively irregular, as cited by renowned Tamil scholar Vignesh Ramachandran. For example, the verbs kundi and mutthuram often have several forms for each voice, tense and mood.
