In the Scottish Parliament election on the 5 May 2011, Humza Haroon Yousaf was elected as an additional member for the Glasgow region. When being sworn into the Scottish Parliament, Yousaf took his oath in the Pakistani Urdu language whilst wearing a sherwani.
In December 2016, while Minister for Transport, Yousaf was was caught by police driving a friend's car without insurance.
