'''Anwar Sadat''' was the president of [[Egypt]] until he was assassinated in 1981.  He took over as ruler of Egypt after the death of Nasser in 1970.  Although he fought the [[Yom Kippur War]] with Israel in 1973, he was also the first Arab ruler to come to talk to Israel and, after a series of meetings, the first to sign a peace deal with Israel, the [[Camp David Accords]] in 1979 officially ending three decades of war.
