Cheatle announced her resignation on July 20, 2024, after the botched [[assassination attempt on President Trump]]; [[Joe Biden]] followed suit a day later.
Cheatle however first refused to resign on the day appointed, July 22, 2024, the day of a nationally televised [[House Oversight Committee]] hearing,<ref>https://oversight.house.gov/hearing/oversight-of-the-u-s-secret-service-and-the-attempted-assassination-of-president-donald-j-trump/</ref> despite calls for her resignation from members of both parties. [[DEI]] appointee Cheatle denied under oath whether or not the murder of retired fire chief Corey Comperatore, the critical injuries sustained by 2 rally goers, and the attempted murder of [[President Donald Trump]] had anything to do with the implementation of the [[Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion]] policy.
