FORTRAN is a procedural programming language first used in the 1950s that is
still used today. FORTRAN is used for computation heavy tasks such as
scientific and engineering modeling.

FORTRAN, as Backus was tired of having to program everything in assembly. In AD
1957, a FORTRAN compiler was published and by AD 1965 the language was used
