Slytherin is one of the four Hogwarts houses in the ''Harry Potter'' series by JK Rowling, the other three being Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw. It is named after Salazar Slytherin, one of the four co-founders of Hogwarts. Its founder valued cunning. Its members have included Horace Slughorn, Phineas Nigellus Black, Severus Snape, Lucius Malfoy, Bellatrix Black Lestrange, Lord Voldemort and others. Slytherin has produced more evil wizards than any other house at Hogwarts. Its symbol is a serpent, which is traditionally a symbol of evil. The Slytherins throughout the series are depicted as thoroughly unpleasant people.
