Although Jimmy Carter is now famous for his human rights crusade, he was not always a champion of them. During his reign, he supported the brutal regime in Indonesia which resulted in the massacre of 200,000 Timorese and a handful of Westerners. Carter is also criticized with funding Osama bin Laden (which was continued under the Reagan administration).
