The book of Amos records his words while he was among the herdmen of Tekoa. He prophesied during the days of [[Uzziah]], king of [[Judah]], two years before the earthquake.
He said, in summary, Thus saith the Lord, you are wicked and you will be destroyed. He spoke of many different nations but particularly to [[Isreal]] and Judah. The conquest of these other countries came to pass as expected, [[Babylon]] and Assyria were the conquerers God used.
