The Flintstones is a cartoon franchise started in 1960 featuring a "modern stone age family" living in a "Town of Bedrock" according to the theme song. There was a Flintstones animated TV series from 1960 to 1966 and a movie in 1994 and many spin off series and video games. The series features a suburban family headed by Fred Flintstone. Dinosaurs are featured as domestic animals assisting in household chores, as pets (including the Flintstone's "Dino"), as as beasts of burden. Though the series is fictional, the depiction of humans and dinosaurs contemporaneously is well supported by scientific evidence (see the article on [[dinosaur|dinosaurs]]), there is no evidence of an actual a town called Bedrock, nor is there any evidence that humans were successful in domesticating dinosaurs, though there no known reason why small dinosaurs could not have been pets.

The series is modeled after a 1950's TV show called [[The Honeymooners]]. Though the Flintstones is set in the stone age, the family life depicted is that of a stereotypical conservative 1950's American family. The show is ideal for children not only because of its anti-evolution implications, but also because of its depiction of conservative family values (despite Fred's temper).
