Bernadette's body remained "incorrupt" (preserved from decomposition), which was evidence for her holiness and the shrine at [[Lourdes]] is a major pilgrimage destination. She was placed in a chapel in the Church of St. Gildard August 3, 1925, at the convent where she lived in Nevers, [[France]]. She was recognized as a saint by the Catholic Church in 1993.  Her feast day is April 16th.
