:Though Senator M<sup>c</sup>Carthy's methods were often deplored by others, his reasons for engaging in his actions were to be a benefit to the United States. He '''did''' help uncover a vast network of people whose loyalties were suspect (at best). History has borne out that the fruit of his labor was a safer America.
