'''University of Bridgeport''' "was taken over in 1992 by the Professors World Peace Academy, a Moon-affiliated group, and its current president, Neil Salonen, is a former president of the Unification Church in America."<ref>[http://www.rickross.com/reference/unif/unif239.html San Francisco Chronicle/October 3, 2004] By Don Lattin - cited by Rick Ross</ref>

The '''University of Bridgeport''' has a student body of around 4,500 on a campus jutting out from the south coast of Connecticut. Threatened with closure after a long battle over faculty salaries, it turned to the [[Professors World Peace Academy]] (PWPA) of the [[Unification Movement]] for financial assistance in exchange for an agreement which permits PWPA to name a majority of the school's board of governors. Sources who are harshly critical of Rev. Moon and his various projects have described this as a "takeover".
