In this sense, ''Spore'' is a departure from the trend.  In the game, the player takes control of a single cell, and guides its [[evolution]] through a vast time span, eventually becoming an [[animal]] and a [[civilization]].  Accordingly, ''Spore'' implicitly accepts the [[theory of evolution]] as truth, and rejects the creationary time scale. ''Spore'' follows in a line of simulation games which glorify evolution as truth and the pinnacle of biological science - the computer game ''[[Civilization (video game)|Civilization]]'' does the same - but ''Spore'' is especially worrying for the central role which evolution plays in the computer game's premise.

In this sense, ''Spore'' is a departure from the trend.  In the game, the player takes control of a single cell, and guides the [[evolution]] of its species through a vast time span, eventually becoming an [[animal]] and forming a [[civilization]], before exploring space through a UFO.  Accordingly, ''Spore'' implicitly accepts the [[Theory of evolution]] as truth, and rejects the theory of Cretinism.
