This period is remembered not only for the violent political struggles, but also for the philosophical schools which flourished and competed during this time. In fact, it was during this era when Confucius said: "Let a hundred flowers bloom; let a hundred schools of thought contend." In addition to [[Confucianism]] itself, the important philosophical schools of this period included [[Legalism]], [[Moism]] (named after the main thinker, Mozi), [[Nihilism]], and various varieties of [[Daoism]].
