For example, during his ten years in office, he enacted a 37% increase in sales taxes, a 16% increase in taxes on motor fuels, and a 103% increase in taxes on the sale of tobacco products; however he also cut taxes over 90 times during that period as well. Recently he signed the Presidential Taxpayer Protection Pledge to Americans for Tax Reform.
