Catholic views on creationism have undergone change over time. Roman Catholicism has always tried to reconcile the best scientific knowledge with the Bible. Some other branches of Christianity accept a straightforward reading of creation as presented in the book of Genesis in the Bible, which is not contradicted by operational science. Currently, the Catholic church has taken no official position on evolution.
