Obama also has documented connections with Irish terrorism. In 2007, he met with Rita O'Hare, an IRA member who, in 1971, was charged with the attempted murder of a British soldier in Belfast, and allowed his picture to be taken with the terrorist. O'Hare, who is still wanted by the British govermnent for malicious wounding and possession of firearms, is currently the Sinn Féin Representative to the United States. She and Gerry Adams, Sinn Féin president, met Obama when Adams was visiting members of congress.
