Valid point, but not conclusive.

If oil on our planet is believed to have come as a byproduct of the decomposition of certain organic life, then how can it be speculated that Titan and Saturn both have oil? Isn't that a stretch? [[User:Learn together|Learn together]] 11:54, 15 November 2008 (EST)

: I think that in recent times there's been a bit of a move away from the idea that oil is derived from organic life.  Also, proposing that oil on Earth has a biological origin doesn't preclude there being other ways of deriving it.  Further, some will no doubt see this as evidence of past life on those bodies.  Nevertheless, oil on extraterrestrial bodies does support the idea of a non-biological origin.
