Various figures including prominant televangalist [[Jerry Falwell]] have asserted that AIDS is 'God's curse on homosexuals', however this fails to take into account that the syndrome can and does affect many other groups, including innocent children (who have contracted the HIV virus while in the womb or through contaminated blood transfusions). On the other hand, some (such as adherents to [[Calvinism]]) believe that AIDS may have been created by God to affect humanity, or those that God did not choose to save.
