In 2004 the [[New England Patriots]] drafted Benjamin Watson in the first round of the [[NFL Draft]]. Ben was not expected to be picked in the first round and was thought to at the highest have middle second round value so the selection took many sports columnist and draft experts by surprise. Because Watson and the Patriots couldn't work out a deal before training camp started, Ben ended up holding out of coming to training camp until August 16, 2004 when he ended his 18 day holdout and agreed to a 6 year 13.5 million dollar deal. Watson started the first game of the regular season vs the [[Indianapolis Colts]] and had 2 receptions for 16 yards in the first half but was injured sometime after he made those catches in the game and was put on the injure reserved list for the rest of the 2004 season.
