Members of the [[CPUSA]], DCA, PLP, [[SWP]] and the SWP youth group Young Student Alliance (YSA) attended the convention.  Karen Wald also attended and was working at the SDS national office as of this time. Wald was also a member of the editorial group of ''The Movement'', and previously associated with the YSA.  A year earlier, Wald had traveled to Cuba.
