'''''H5. Compare or contrast the Dred Scott decision with Roe v. Wade.'''''
   −
Both court decisions for Dred vs. Scott and Roe vs. Wade denied the rights of certain individuals based on the fact that they were and are not considered "people."  Dred vs. Scott stated that blacks had no rights, could not sue in court, and were not considered real citizens. Roe vs. Wade also stated that the unborn child is not a person. Therefore, the baby is not considered a citizen of this country who has certain unalienable rights. Although the slaves had the same endowed rights (given to them by their Creator) as white people had, this was something not recognized by the Southerners. Roe vs. Wade consented that the fetus has no rights. However, the fourteenth amendment, adopted on July 28, 1868,  ensures the unborn child the right to life. The blacks were inferior to Southerners and the unborn children are inferior to those who wish to see them aborted. Both have suffered because of these major court decisions.

The court decisions for Dred vs. Scott and Roe vs. Wade are very similar. Both denied the rights of certain individuals based on the fact that they were and are not considered "people."

Dred vs. Scott stated that slaves had no rights, could not sue in court, and were not considered real citizens while Roe vs. Wade stated that the unborn child is not a person. The slaves were not given any rights and were not considered citizens and unborn children are not given any rights or considered citizens of this country. Although the slaves had the same endowed rights (given to them by their Creator) as white people had, this was something not recognized by the Southerners. In the same way, the Fourteenth Amendment, which ensures and guarantees the unborn child the right to life, is not recognized by many today. The slaves were looked upon as inferior just as the unborn children are inferior to those who wish to see them aborted. Both the African Americans and the unborn babies have suffered because of these major court decisions.
