The United States has a population of 313,070,847.<ref>http://www.census.gov/main/www/popclock.html</ref> Of these, 63.7% are whites, 16.3% are Hispanics, 12.6% are blacks, 4.8% are Asians, 2.9% are multiracial, 0.9% are American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.2% are Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander.<ref>http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/00000.html</ref> The white population of the United States is decreasing due to high rates of aging and low birthrates, as well as the fact that most immigrants are not whites of European ancestry. Nonwhite minorities are growing, primarily due to the large numbers of immigrants from Latin America and Asia.
