The '''Law of the Sea Treaty''', or '''LOST''', is a [[liberal]] treaty that would erode [[America]]n sovereignty by giving away control of the High Seas to an international tribunal. This treaty was defeated by the opposition of 34 Senators as of July 16, 2012.
Freedom of navigation already exists on the High Seas, and has for centuries. The [[United Nations]] has been a failure and it is unjustified to create a 181-nation organization to control deep-sea and offshore mining of the seas
The [[Heritage Foundation]] published a paper showing how environmentalists could use this treaty to advance the [[global warming]] hoax.
Former UN Ambassador [[John Bolton]] observed, "With China emerging as a major power, ratifying the treaty now would encourage Sino-American strife, constrain U.S. naval activities, and do nothing to resolve China’s expansive maritime territorial claims." [[Ronald Reagan]] opposed this treaty also.
