Saigon was the largest city in southern Vietnam and the capital city for very many years before being renamed in 1975 to Ho Chi Minh City.
There are many literary works and historical references to Saigon, so that it warrants it's own entry.
In fact, the city is still sometimes referred to as Saigon, and various tourist and cultural websites use the name Saigon instead of Ho Chi Minh City. If a student is trying to find information, they should be able to type in "Saigon" and locate it here at Conservapedia. Just my opinion... --Taj 12:54, 15 April 2007 (EDT)
