I've only edited a few wiki pages before - trying to become familiar with the guidelines, commandments, style manual, etc. - please pass along tips/tricks.
Will probably focus mostly on politics, especially budget pages, but have vast array of interests.
Glad the site exists to present a different point of view - through deliberate discussion people should be able to come to a mutual understanding.

I think the reasons people disagree can be broken into 3 categories:
1) symantics - one person may use certain words differently than another person.
2) facts - each person has a certain set of experiences they base their opinion on - studies they have read, personal experience, anecdotes from others, etc.
3) relative valuation of the principles involved - one person might value liberty much more highly than security - and another person might weigh them differently.
The first 2 can usually be resolved through discussion - the third is usually best handled by people agreeing to disagree.
