Wells, Texas
Wells is a small city in east Texas, at the very southern end of Cherokee County.
Wells was the 12th city to pass an ordinance declaring itself a Sanctuary city for the unborn, doing so on February 20, 2020.
Near the city is The Church of Wells, a non-denominational Calvinist church, which has been likened to a cult due to its extreme views. The church has been accused of holding people against their will, disrupting activities with which it disagrees, and one of its side businesses (a sawmill) has been repeatedly cited by OSHA for unsafe labor practices.
