Kindergarten

Kindergarten is a form of preschool, attended by children below elementary school age, usually at about 5 years of age and prior to entering first grade or the equivalent. The name "kindergarten" originated in Germany, and means child-garden (if translated literally). Many parents choose not to send their children to kindergarten and instead take care of them at home-- Logically, they believe that interactions between parents and young children are beneficial to growth and development (this can be viewed as a precursor to homeschooling).
