Skyfall (2012) is the twenty-third film of the James Bond film series, the third to star Daniel Craig as fictional British MI6 agent James Bond. The film was released on October 26, 2012 in the United Kingdom, followed by a November 9, 2012 release in the United States. The characters of Q and Miss Moneypenny return in the film for the first time since 2002's Die Another Day. This is also the last film in the series to feature Judi Dench in the role of M, who is killed off during the film's finale. Ralph Fiennes' character, Gareth Mallory, is promoted to the position at end of the film, following the death of Dench's character.
