An Investment Bank is a financial institution that acts as underwriters to equity and debt securities, facilitate M&A and provide brokerage services to both individual and institutional clients. Some investment banks also provide financial planning services such as asset management and wealth management.

Prominent investment banks include Morgan Stanley, Lazard, Goldman Sachs, Barclays and Citibank.
