Michael Edwards (born 5 December 1963), more commonly known as Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards, is a British athlete who was the first ever person to represent Great Britain in ski jumping at the 1988 Olympics in Calgary. Although he consistently came last, he became a popular 'underdog' throughout the world, and in particular within the UK where he became something of a folk hero.
