I substituted 'England' for 'Britain' and 'Britannia' because at the time of 'Vortigern' England did not exist, so he could not have been king of it. The article then goes on to talk about Vortigern having 'Roman Catholic' enemies, and inviting Hengist and his band of saxons into the former Roman Province of Britannia to fight them. I'm really not sure this is the case. Wasn't Vortigern concerned about maurauding Irish Gaels, Picts and Vikings around the coasts of the Romanized part of Britian?
