Jane Austen, author of Pride and Prejudice, the 200-year-old classic novel of upper-class British leisure society.

She wrote her first two novels ten years before they came out, and later re-issued them as Sense and Sensibility (1811) and Pride and Prejudice (1813). Mansfeild Park and Emma followed in 1814 and 1815.
