AMBER Alert

AMBER Alert stands for America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response. A government hotline to recover and protect children. The system orginated in 1996. Alerts are sent by law enforcement by commercial radio stations, Internet radio, satellite radio, television stations, cable TV by the Emergency Alert and cell phone text/SMS/email and electronic billboards.
The service was named for Amber Hagerman, a 9-year-old abducted and murdered in Arlington, Texas.
