A dress code is a mandatory requirement or guideline for clothing and shoes, as used in workplaces, schools, and some social settings such as bars and restaurants, as well as more formal occasions such as balls.

Some schools require a dress code or uniform to maintain discipline and morality. Dress codes have been shown to improve educational performance and reduce school violence. Liberals tend to oppose dress codes, claiming that they stifle free speech.[1]
