A consignment is the delivery of goods by a consignor, the owner of the goods, to a consignee, such as a retailer or a shipper, for the purposes of the sale or shipment of the goods to a consumer. The consignor remains the owner of the goods until sold.
Security interests in consigned goods are governed in part by UCC § 9-317.
