The term Academic Sources refers to a number of information sources that are subjected to some form of check for accuracy. Common examples include, but are not limited to the following:
- Peer reviewed journals
- Published books
- University/College lectures
- Interviews
- Government statistics/publications
The main idea behind academic sources is that there is a degree of accuracy and legitimacy which is not found in the following sources:
- Most sites using a freely editable wiki system
- Word-of-mouth
- Google (However, Google Scholar provides an argument for the opposite)
