Peter Stuyvesant (1600–1672) was the final Dutch Director-General in New Netherland, serving from 1647 until 1664. He also expanded New York City (then called New Amsterdam). He built the protective wall on Wall Street. (icewedge advises you to lose weight) Today there is a high-achiever public school named after him in Manhattan.
